De-La-Warr Pavilion

The De La Warr Pavilion reopned in October 2005 as a national centre for contemporary arts. It is one of the most significant spaces in the emerging network of new arts venues in the south east of England as well as a place for entertainment, education, refreshment and relaxation for the community of Bexhill and beyond.

Old Town, Manor Gardens and Costume Museum

Located in Bexhill-on-Sea's picturesque Old Town are many fine examples of Georgian architecture and the Bexhill Museum of Costume and Social History. The Museum includes displays of costume and textiles, decorative and applied art, personalities, social history, weapons and war. The surrounding buildings in Bexhill Old Town contain many of historical interest including St Peter's Church which originates in Saxon times. Take a trip around the picturesque Manor Gardens, with wonderfully colourful plants and flowers. For historians, the ruins and remains of the Manor House can be seen, originally built in the 13th Century.

Bexhill Museum

The Bexhill museum was started in 1914 by a small group of dedicated enthusiasts who specialised in natural history, archaeology and ethnography. It has since developed into a fascinating and comprehensive collection. It gives an incredible insight into the history of Bexhill, its famous residents and visitors, and the important historic milestones that have made Bexhill internationally famous. The museum is an ideal place for adults and children alike to discover history and to journey through time. Located to the South side of Egerton Park facing Egerton Road. When you visit, look out for the giant crab of Japan!!

Note: Bexhill Museum is currently closed, undergoing redevelopment. It will re-open in Spring 2009. For more information please telephone 01424 787950.

  Motor Racing Heritage Centre  
Motoring Heritage Centre

The Motoring Heritage Centre is featured at the Sackville on De-La-Warr Parade. The centre features photos and historical information on the original 1902 to 1904 races, and highlights Bexhill's place in history as the birthplace of British motor racing. Both 'Paint and Glaze' and 'Paint and Take' options are available, so you can take your finished creation home with you the same day if you wish. Booking is not always necessary, so you can drop in on a whim. Party and group bookings are welcome.

Open 10am to 5pm: Monday to Saturday during school holidays and Wednesday to Saturday through the rest of the year.

Egerton Park

Located just to the West of Bexhill town centre, Egerton park has many attractions on offer that appeal to young and old alike. If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, the park can offer the peace, solace and relaxation required. Or, if you are feeling more adventurous, you can try out any of the attractions on offer. The boating lake, tennis courts, putting green and indoor bowling centre offer the perfect way to while away those hours. Children will love the adventure playground. Egerton park is surrounded in beauty with some lovely displays of bedding plants and that great feeling of freedom that only nature can bring.

The Polegrove Recreation Ground

The Polegrove is situated to the West of Egerton Park in Brockley Road. It is the recreation ground used by many of Bexhill's sporting clubs including Bexhill Town football club and Bexhill's cricket and rugby teams.

The Polegrove also hosts the Bexhill Horse Show each year as well as other events including the Party in the Polegrove music festival.

  Crazy Golf  
Crazy Golf and Putting Green

Bexhill's crazy golf course is situated on the seafront, to the West of the De-La-Warr Pavilion and Colonnade. The course consists of twelve entertaining holes. Alternatively, if you prefer your putting a little less 'crazy' there is a grass putting green alongside, on the Metropole Lawn where the old Hotel Metropole used to be.



Golf Courses

Bexhill-on-Sea boasts two of the best golf courses in East Sussex. The Cooden Beach Golf Course was described as 'a good sporting course' by James Braid when it was first opened in 1912. The course is both fun and challenging for every class of player. Highwoods Golf Course is located slightly more inland. Established in 1924, it has matured over the years into one of the finest courses in the area.

Sailing, Sea Angling and Rowing Clubs

Bexhill Sailing Club is a friendly family sailing club with excellent facilities and is located on De-La Warr Parade. A full programme of racing and cruises begins in March and extends to mid November. There are races every weekend (Saturdays and Sundays) and also some Wednesday evenings, tide and light permitting. Bexhill Sea Angling club is situated at the East end of De-La Warr Parade, at the foot of Galley Hill, for anyone interested in giving sea angling a go.

Bexhill Rowing Club was first formed in June 1893, and are always welcoming new members. Training nights are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Bexhill Leisure Pool and Ten Pin Bowling

Both of these attractions are located at the Ravenside Retail Park, about one mile East of Bexhill town centre.

Ocean Bowling is a state of the art 24 lane ten pin bowling complex. Other facilities include a bar, pool tables and arcade games.

Bexhill Leisure Pool is the local swimming pool complex. It has a heated pool with flume, a wave machine and a 'beach' area.

Bexhill Leisure Centre is located on Bexhill Down. It has a 74 station gym, health suite, exercise studio, 3 squash courts, sports hall offering badminton, trampolining, gymnastics, football, karate and basketball. Other facilities include a creche, soft play and function room hire.
